Ina'am Qaddoura Al-Mufti is the first Jordanian woman to hold a governmental position and was the first woman appointed to the Amman Municipal Council in 1980. Al-Mufti served as the Minister of Social Development from 1979 to 1984. During this time, she also established the Ministry of Social Development, Noor Al-Hussein Foundation, Women's Issues Organization, the Jubilee School of Amman, Children's Trust, Union of Jordanian Women, and the National Union for Jordanian Business Women. She was also a part of UNESCO and spoke in several radio shows. Al-Mufti also was a member of the Senate in the Upper House of the National Assembly of Jordan.
