Dr. Haifa Jamal Al-Lail is the President of Effat University, Jeddah Saudi Arabia. She was awarded a PhD in Public Policy from the University of Southern California. Before joining Effat University in 1998, she served as the first Dean of Girls' Campus in King Abdulaziz University, in Saudi Arabia. Al-Lail is a distinguished leader, respected academic, renowned advocate of youth engagement, and author of several articles. She has also delivered many keynote speeches on women's education in the Middle East, women and change, entrepreneurship and business.
Al-Lail was one of the women included as part of the "1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize" Initiative in 2005, which sought to nominate 1000 women working toward peace at the local, national, or international levels collectively for the Nobel Prize. She is also the recipient of many awards such as the Innovation Award, Saudi Sayidaty, Queen Effat's Distinction Award, Leading Woman CEO, Distinguished Arab Woman Award, World Family Summit Award, and the Distinguished Arabian Woman Award. Al-Lail continues to work towards enhancing women's education throughout Saudi Arabia.
