Neda Salmanpour is a Kuwaiti national and a UK qualified barrister with more than 20 years of corporate transaction experience in the energy and finance sectors. Salmanpour has held various senior management positions in both public and private multinational corporations. Salmanpour was called to the Bar in 1992. Her career began in Chambers in London before joining Kuwait Petroleum Corporation in 1994 where as Senior Legal Counsel she was responsible for handling commercial agreements, litigation and arbitration.
In 2005, she set up and headed the Legal International Division of Commercial Bank of Kuwait and was responsible for the Bank. In 2008, she joined Kuwait Energy PLC, an upstream oil and gas exploration and production company which at the time held 42 assets in over 8 countries, as General Counsel and her work focused on upstream cross-border mergers and acquisitions and energy projects. In 2011, she joined Pillsbury’s Corporate & Securities and Finance groups in their London Office as Counsel working on project finance, energy, and infrastructure and in 2013, she joined HNC Energy Limited as Business Development Director focusing on originating business in the MENA Region.
Salmanpour began her involvement in the non-profit world in 1995 after attending the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing. She began to draw on her experience as an international lawyer to support the rights of women and girls. Salmanpour then sought to apply her corporate expertise and experience to the non-profit world by supporting projects that promoted gender equality, economic empowerment, and justice. In Kuwait, Salmanpour was member of the Kuwaiti Society for Human Rights, Women’s Cultural and Social Society, and International Women’s Group. In the United Kingdom, Salmanpour is a member of the Bar Human Rights Committee, an organization that seeks to uphold international human rights law worldwide, supporting human rights defenders, NGOs, legal professionals and State institutions worldwide. Salmanpour served for a time as Vice Chair and Trustee of the National Alliance of Women’s Organisations, an umbrella organization of 50 women NGOs seeking to ensure women’s rights are mainstreamed in policy and implementation. She is member of UK NGO CSW Alliance that interfaces with the UK Government to ensure implementation of international legal instruments for women and girls. Salmanpour is Co-Chair and member of the Advisory Board of Women’s Interfaith Network (WIN), a non-profit organization focusing on promoting mutual respect and tolerance of women from different ethnic, religious and non-religious backgrounds.
