Fatma Oussedik is a professor of Sociology at the University of Algiers II. She has also been a feminist activist for decades. Her work focused on gender relations and the status of political minorities in Algeria. Her research relies on a post-colonial approach and develops a methodology based on intersectionality. She is the author of many articles and books on the Ibadite institutions of M'zab, Rereading the Ittifaqat, on gender relations in Algeria, the cultural appropriation of the city of Algiers by the population, and Family Mutations in Urban Areas in Algeria.
