Besma Al-Qassar is the founder and president of the Women Mentor Forum (WMF), which aims to increase the number of women in leadership positions in the private sector. Throughout her career, Al-Qassar has been involved in women-related professional programs, from conferences to development programs and corporate initiatives that were aimed at empowering women in the workforce and as entrepreneurs. Most notably, she participated in "She Works", a global two-year project lead by the IFC in partnership with the private sector. Al-Qassar is a regular guest participant at Chatham House’s gender-related events, including the annual flagship event hosted by the International Policy Forum on Gender-Inclusive Growth.
Al-Qassar’s experience ranges from PR and communications to corporate social responsibility and people’s development. She has consulted and coached individuals and corporate teams on corporate communications, corporate identities, corporate values, and corporate cultures. She started her career in 1997 in radio where she worked for one year before moving to the public oil and gas sector. She transitioned into the private sector in 2007 working as a communications consultant before entering the private corporate world in 2010. Al-Qassar holds a B.A. in English Literature from Kuwait University.
