National Commission For Lebanese Women (NCLW)


The National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW) is the official national mechanism responsible for realizing women's advancement and gender equality in Lebanon as per law 720/1998. NCLW is a consultant to the government and to all national councils and institutions on all gender-based issues. Its primary focuses are recommendations to the Government on policy and decision-making, and on the development of strategies related to gender equality.
NCLW is the policy coordinator on gender based issues between national institutions and the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) sector. NCLW’s role on the executive level includes: the development of national strategies and plans for the advancement of women in collaboration with different national bodies and civil society organizations; the implementation of gender sensitive projects; the elaboration and publication of papers, studies and researches tackling women issues; and the organization of workshops, conferences and events on the national, regional and international levels.
